How to Work Hybrid, Safely and Securely

Phishing attacks, where users mistakenly click on a link or download an attachment with malware, are one of the most common cybersecurity threats facing businesses today.

These types of cyberattacks skyrocketed during the pandemic, as workers moved to a remote or hybrid work environment. Reports of phishing attacks increased 182% between 2019 and 2021, according to the FBI.

And unless you audit your system regularly, the scary thing is that you might not know if your system has already been compromised.

A few months ago, we were going through this process for a new client and realized their systems had been breached almost a year-and-a-half earlier. And the attackers were still in the environment! In fact, the hackers were forwarding the emails of these two employees (who worked in the accounting department), and they had written code so that every time the email was forwarded, it was deleted from the sent folder.

So, it’s very important to conduct ongoing, regular audits to ensure your system has not been compromised. It could be something as simple as noticing an auto-forward on an email account.

For the month of October — Cybersecurity Awareness Month — we’re offering a free analysis of your hybrid work setup.

We’ll review it through the lens of our over 700 best practices, and provide you with tips and advice that you can immediately put into action.
